You might know the name from
a green liquor made by monks, but it is also a massif at the east of Lyon close to the Jura, an area known as the 'pre-Alps'.
Somewhat smaller than the other pre-Alps mountain chain such as the Vercors,
the Chartreuse, thanks to a tourmented relief, is offering a huge variety of hikes.
Footpaths full of solitude, deep forest soaking in freshness, thousand of flowers scattered in gorgeously green meadows, and imposing limestone cliffs full of light,
are welcoming walkers of all levels and abilities.
