Located at the South-East of Lyon and South of Grenoble, this massif of the pre-Alps is well known around the world and
has much to offer in terms of sport activities.
The walls of its belt individualize it from the surrounding regions. They make it
a true natural citadel, voted for its defensive qualities as one of the French Resistance bastions and for territory reconquest during World War Two.
Its most originals physical characteristics,
the Vercors owes it to limestone its main rock. It is this limestone which, fractured, undermined by erosion, gashed by the rivers, nibbled to its heart by the water, has fathered all these naturals phenomenons which give this mountain countless spectaculars settings : vertiginous cliffs, imposing cirques, point of peaks, deep gorges, countless caves, unfathomable pits and a maze of underground tunnels.
As many characteristics that personalize it, distinguish it from its neighbours massifs and have given it an exceptional tourist reputation.
